December 2015 – KTL awarded contract with NIE

KTL were awarded the Tamnamore – Gort line as part of the T312 Provision of Construction, Refurbishment and Restringing of Transmission Overhead Lines Framework by NIE (Northern Ireland Electricity) in December. The project involves the new build of steel towers, portal poles, and the stringing of 3 no. phase conductors and 2 earth wires (1 of which is OPGW).

October 2015 – KTL awarded Distinction by NISO

KTL were the proud recipients of a Distinction award presented by NISO at this year's 24th Annual Safety Awards dinner.

The award has been presented to KTL for demonstrating a Consistent achievement in occupational Health and safety Standards during 2014. The award was collected by Paul Ablitt on behalf of KTL.

September 2015 – KTL Group awarded F1 Overhead Line Framework by Scottish and Southern Energy

The KTL Group, through its subsidiary Gridpower, have been awarded the F1 Overhead Line Framework by Scottish and Southern Energy.

The F1 Framework is an OHL framework for the design, supply, construction, upgrading or refurbishment, dismantling and commissioning of 33kV, 132kV and 275kV steel tower and 132kV wood pole overhead lines in Scotland and England. The Framework is an initial 5 years with a potential to extend for a further 9 years. 5 contractors were selected with £136m spend over 5 years.

September 2015 – KTL Group win Two contracts on the ESB Wind Farm Framework for Electrical Balance of Plant’s

The KTL Group, through its subsidiary Gridpower has won two contracts on the ESB Wind Farm framework for Electrical Balance of Plant’s. Gridpower has been successful in winning tenders for Eglish Wind Farm and Cappawhite Wind Farm.

Gridpower will deliver all electrical works, including design, procurement, installation/erection, testing and commissioning and all civil works associated with the electrical balance of plants.

Eglish Wind Farm is located approximately 7km east of Dunamanagh, and approximately 13km southeast of Derry City, the border between counties Tyrone and Derry runs through the site. The Wind Farm will comprise six turbines with a nominal output of 3MW each.

Cappawhite Windfarm is located in Co. Tipperary one mile north east of Cappawhite village, and will comprise 17 turbines with a nominal output of approximately 3.3 MW each. The Wind Farm will be connected to the ESB Networks 38 kV system.

September 2015 – KTL win Vodafone’s Supply Chain Partners H&S Award at Vodafone Health and Safety Seminar

At the Annual Vodafone Health and Safety Seminar held on Friday 18th September 2015, KTL were the proud winners of Vodafone’s first ever Supply Chain Partners H&S Award. The award criteria was based on Safety Performance, Safety Management and Innovative Technology to improve safety on Vodafone sites. Vodafone felt that KTL had consistently demonstrated an excellent safety culture and safety management when working on their sites.

Vodafone also felt that the innovative technology tool InfraTrack was a major step forward which allows KTL to monitor and improve Health and Safety on sites in real-time, demonstrating how technology is at the forefront of what we do, to ensure employees and their working environment remain safe.

The seminar, attended by many of Vodafone’s supply chain partners, was opened by Anne O’Leary, CEO Vodafone Ireland, whilst Ninian Wilson, Technical Director Vodafone, spoke about “Driving H&S Forward”. Other presenters included Dermot Casey from CIF who talked about how CIF are “Building a Safety Culture for the Future”. Sami Gabriel, Chief Engineer for Vodafone, gave a presentation on “In the Small Print” which looked at how Vodafone put together the user guides for their products and services. The seminar was closed by James Magill, HR Director Vodafone, who spoke about what Vodafone are doing for its employees “Well Being”. James (pictured above along with Barry Phillips), also presented KTL with their Health & Safety award.
