KTL successfully enables #5G at Cheltenham festival for high-priority client in the UK.

The Cheltenham Festival takes place at the Cheltenham racecourse in Gloucestershire and starts today.

This event year runs between Tuesday March 15, and Friday March 18, with seven races each day.

The demand for high-quality connectivity and data sharing is paramount at this festival as it operates on a largely ‘cashless’ basis with an attendance of more than 250,000 people across the four days.

Our client faced a major challenge with getting 5G live at two sites recently on the Cheltenham racecourse. This could have been disastrous with only days to go to this pinnacle event in the UK sporting calendar.

Due to an issue with the EBAND Microwave solution, KTL was asked to step in to resolve the issue.

Barry Neary, KTL Senior Project Manager, was responsible for helping resolve this issue said, “The EBAND 80GHz high-capacity microwave link had several faults and configurational issues and to resolve this, KTL deployed experienced field engineers on-site swiftly, supported by a knowledgeable operations team. They accessed the client’s network management system, configured, and integrated the two sites successfully. We resolved the issue right-first-time bringing 5G on-air and live. Everyone on the client’s side was delighted.”

The client had this to say, “please pass on our thanks to the field engineers for scrambling to sort this out at such short notice.”
